Scope of This Service

Over-the-Range Only, Mounted and Vented Correctly

This is for over-the-range microwaves, the kind that mount to the wall and hang above your cooktop, doubling as a range hood. We don't install countertop microwaves, those just plug in and don't require a professional mount.

An over-the-range install involves more than hanging a box on the wall. The unit has to be secured to a proper mounting bracket that's anchored into studs or blocking, wired to a dedicated electrical circuit in most cases, and vented, either ducted to the outside or set up to recirculate filtered air back into the kitchen, depending on your home's setup.

Ducted vs. Recirculating

Getting the Venting Right Matters

Ducted venting pushes cooking smoke and moisture outside through ductwork, usually through the wall behind the cabinet or up through the roof. This is the better setup when the ductwork already exists, and Nate will connect the microwave to it correctly and check for proper airflow.

Recirculating venting pulls air through a charcoal filter and blows it back into the kitchen. It's used when there's no existing duct run, and it's a perfectly normal setup, it just filters instead of exhausts. We'll tell you honestly which setup your kitchen has and what your options are before quoting the install.

What Indianapolis Homeowners Say

Questions We Hear a Lot

Overhead Microwave Installation FAQ

No. We install over-the-range units only, the kind that mount above your cooktop and vent. Countertop microwaves just plug in and don't need a professional install.

No. If ductwork already exists, we'll connect to it. If it doesn't, most over-the-range microwaves can run in recirculating mode instead, filtering air back into the kitchen rather than venting it outside. We'll tell you which setup makes sense for your kitchen.

Yes. An over-the-range microwave hangs above a hot cooktop and needs to be anchored into studs or solid blocking behind the cabinet, not held up by drywall anchors alone. Nate checks this before mounting anything.

The installation work carries a 60-day warranty. The microwave itself is covered under its manufacturer warranty, and a correct install helps keep that warranty valid.
